coding to a better future

This quarter has been a season of growth and discovery, especially knowing the power of perseverance and flexibility. I have advanced my studies, acquiring new concepts and gaining a deeper understanding of science and medical procedures as I inch closer to my objective of being a physician. Besides studying, I was able to separate work life from my personal life and so remain concentrated and motivated. While reading interesting blogs also broadened my perspective while making it easier for me to synthesize and utilize information in the right manner. That said, it wasn't all smooth sailing. Trying to mix academic demands with extra-curricular activities was not easy and there were also periods of task overload which made self-esteem to be questionable. Technical issues while in the online sessions were a nightmare adding on to the pressure and the all too familiar never having enough hours a day to firstly, finish online sessions then start on course work and even study for exami...

It expanded the definition of rape to include acts other than sexual penetration, such as object or instrument insertion, and considered both men and women as potential victims. Protecting Children: A Safe Philippines for Every Child

The Philippines commemorates National Children’s Month every November with the intention of emphasizing, ‘Children’s Rights’. ‘Our’ children, dutifully deserve this recognition, enforces them to focus on the theme of the November, aimed at arousing empathy for protection of children: the theme for this year is *“Break the Prevalence, End The Violence: Protecting Children, Creating A Safe Philippines.”*  Children in the Philippines endure different forms of violence in diverse settings, namely at home, school or through the Internet. Climate Change and the Strength of Filipinos

Image
The Philippines is one of the countries that have been hit hardest due to climate change. The intensity of typhoons is increasing, rainfall patterns are changing, and rising sea levels pose a danger to those living along the coast. These changes are as a result of pollution, overexploitation of trees and other environmental destructive practices.   In 2013, strong typhoons like Haiyan proved how extreme climatic conditions could be. Individuals were displaced from their houses and their places of work and loss of life was also experienced. Extreme climatic conditions also put the lives of farmers at risk. Inundation is common occurrence among many communities. In spite of these problems, Filipinos have displayed a good degree of resilience. Communities are able to thrive in such environments as they are able to rebuild after events of disaster, farmers are ingenious and innovate alternative ways of growing crops and communities come together to initiate campaigns that se...

My Journey into the World of Web Blogging

Image
The first quarter helped me learn about web blogs more thoroughly including their types, elements, objectives, and the intricate skills involved in their creation. It helped me understand how to communicate ideas appropriately through the use of this medium which can reach a wider audience. I also appreciated the role of design and ergonomics in the creation of the blogs and this opened my eyes to the fusion of art and engineering in the making of web content. In my case, one of those problems was understanding how to operate some of the technical features of the blogging areas. At times I would get challenged on how to furnish the blog with images, animations, or videos while factoring in the structure of the blog or ensuring that the blog is in proper shape. The other problem was getting content out there that would capture the attention of the target audience when no ideas were coming out, a classic case of writer’s block occurs in such instances. To mitigate such difficulties...
